Objectives:This study was to investigate and analyze the rural perimenopausal women’s subjectivewell-being in Xinjiang,Shanxi Province,and explore the factors related to subjective well-being.According to the analysis of the results,some corresponding measures were put forward toimprove the subjective well-being level and health status of rural perimenopausal women.Methods:In this study,first,we adopted the random sampling method to select two townships ofXinjiang,and then in each township randomly selected two villages.Finally,a cluster samplingmethod was used to select the right female to accomplish the questionnaire survey.Questionnaire database was established and entried by using the Epidata3.1software, anddata’s statistical analysis used the SPSS13.0software.Qualitative variables were expressed asconstituent ratio,and according to the normal distribution,quantitative variables can be repre-sented as mean±standard deviation,median,or percentile.According to the measurement ofnormal distribution and homogeneity of variables,the ANOVA,t test or nonparametric test wereselected to compare the differences between different groups.The statistical method of multiplestepwise regression analysis and Pearson correlation analysis were also used in this paper.Results:1.Perimenopausal syndrome was found in319rural women(77.6%),and30.4%of thewomen had mild symptoms while39.7%had moderate symptoms, and7.5%presented withsevere symptoms.The four most common perimenopausal symptoms for all women were:fatigue (74.9%),mood swings(70.6%),joint and muscular discomfort (62.8%),insomnia (62.8%).2.The total mean score of subjective well-being of rural perimenopausal women was80.00±11.63points,and the ‘freedom of health concern,worry, distress’,‘cheerful versus depressedmood’,‘satisfying,interesting life’,‘emotional-behavioral control’,‘energy level’, and‘relaxedversus tense,anxious feeling’ were7.31±2.67,16.85±3.67,6.20±1.76,11.96±2.34,19.88±3.91,and 17.80±4.01,respectively.During the past month before this investigation,75.9%of the particip-ants scored in the range for‘positive well-being’,19.5%were in the‘moderately distressed’range,and4.6%were in the ‘severely distressed’category.3.In terms of sociodemographic data,the factors which except occupation all had differentsubjective well-being level between the groups of rural perimenopausal women, and thedifference was statistically significant (P<0.05).This study determined a negative correlationbetween age and subjective well-being. The educational background of junior high school orabove women’s subjective well-being scores were significantly higher than those of womenwith other educational backgrounds.This study determined that widowed women had lowerlevels of subjective well-being than others.The subjective well-being scores of respondents hadregular or occasional sports, hobbies, good relationship with neighborhood,and widely Socialnetworking were significantly higher than other informants.4.The rural perimenopausal women with different physical conditions had differentsubjective well-being level, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).TheParticipants perceived good health status or without chronic diseases were investigated withhigh level of subjective well-being.The women with Menstrual disorder’s subjective well-beingscores were significantly lower than those of normal’s one.This finding showed a negativecorrelation between subjective well-being and overall performance of perimenopausalsyndrome.Conclusions:1.The overall level of subjective well-being in rural perimenopausal women was high;2.In terms of sociodemographic data,the factors except occupation all had an influence onsubjective well-being of rural perimenopausal women;3.The physical conditions had an influence on subjective well-being of ruralperimenopausal women;4.The main factors relating to subjective well-being among rural perimenopausal womenwere perimenopausal symptoms,perceived health status,Social networking,chronic disease,menopause,sport and the child care.
