Objectives(1) Analyzing the awareness rate of AIDS-related knowledge and high-riskbehaviors of AIDS among MSM in Qiqihar city to provide scientific evidence forproposing effective interventions.(2) Understanding the infection status of AIDS, syphilis and hepatitis C, and newinfections of AIDS among MSM in Qiqihar city.(3) Through understanding the demands for counseling and testing among MSMin Qiqihar city, to identify the most suitable methods of MSM counseling and testing, and to expand the coverage of MSM counseling and testing.MethodsPeople who were over16years old and had sex with men among Qiqihar city(including local and nonlocal household) were surveyed using self-designed MSMhealth questionnaire combined with MAM sentinel surveillance questionnaire.Questionnaire included general information, awareness of AIDS-related knowledge,AIDS-related behaviors, receiving levels of AIDS intervention and testing, andwillingness of AIDS testing. Laboratory testing including serological tests of AIDS,syphilis and hepatitis C, and BED tests of new infections of HIV-1. The MSM generalinformation, awareness of AIDS-related knowledge, and willingness of AIDS testingwere analyzed descriptively. Chi-square test used to compare differences betweengroups. Influencing factors were analyzed by logistic regression analysis.Results(1) Age of the first male sexual behavior among MSM ranged from11to60years old, and the average and median age were19.91±5.17and18, respectively. Thegender distribution of the first sexual behavior was that there were359men89.75%accounting for89.75%and41women accounting for10.25%.272respondents (68.00%) had1to3sexual partners,102respondents (25.50%) had4to5, and26respondents (6.50%) had above6.(2) Condom usage rate of last homosexual behavior, last commercial homosexualbehavior, and last heterosexual behavior among MSM were64.36%,72.73%and50.00%, respectively.(3) Of400respondents, the proportions of receiving peer education, publicityand distribution of condoms and AIDS counseling and testing, and HIV testing were52.5%,57.5%and61.5%, respectively.(4) The awareness rate of AIDS-related knowledge was85.50%. There weresignificant differences in the awareness rate among different ethnicity, sample sources, local residence time, feasibility of regular testing, and testing methods (P<0.05). Butthe awareness rate had no difference in marital status, household, and willingness ofinforming testing results (P>0.05).(5) The infection rates of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis C were11.00%,9.50%and0.00%among MSM in this survey, respectively. After being adjusted by mid-pointformula of McDougal calculation method, the new infection rate of HIV-1amongMSM of Qiqihar city in2014was10.69%.(6) The results of logistic regression analysis showed that age, knowledgeawareness, counseling and testing HIV regularly, sexual partners, age of firsthomosexual behavior, testing results of syphilis, condom usage of homosexualbehavior in recent6months, and location of sex were the influencing factors of HIVinfection (P<0.05), while marital status, educational levels, gender of first sex objects, sex orientation, and heterosexual behavior nearly6months were not (P>0.05).Conclusions(1) MSM of the local residents, low age, and high school or higher are in themajority in this survey.(2) The rate of condom use in MSM homosexual or heterosexual intercourse isonly24.31%and33.33%respectively in Qiqihar within recent half year, which needs to be improved.(3) The AIDS awareness rate in the group of MSM is85.50%. The AIDSawareness rate is relatively low in MSM of ethnic minorities, samples from the park/toilet/grassland, those living in Qiqihar less than one year, those with low literacy, those who can’t get tested for HIV regularly and those knowing that they have beeninfected with HIV by donating blood at the Blood Station.(4) According to the survey, HIV infection rate in MSM is11%; syphilis infectionrate in MSM is9.5%; newly found HIV-1nfection rate in MSM is10.69%in Qigihar,(5) Factors for HIV infection (OR>1) in the group of MSM include age under40, unawareness of AID knowledge, failing to have regular test for HIV, having sexwith more than6partners, the age at which the first homosexual intercourse happenedis under20, suffering from syphilis, failing to use condom during homosexualintercourse in recent6months, having sex in unfixed place.
