All the subjects received the oral examination and 916 subjects(456 males and 460 females) received questionnaire and the data were statistically analyzed by SPSS 21.0 software. Results: The prevalence of dental caries was 88.0%, DFT was 4.75±3.439. the detection rate of gingiva bleeding, dental calculus and the prevalence of periodontitis were 82.7%,65.1% and 74.7% respectively. The risk factors of moderately severe d ental caries and periodontitis were more frequency of milchigs with sugar(OR=2.519,95%CI 1.216 to 5.216,P=0.013)and higher age(OR=4.279,95%CI 2.486 to 7.364,P=0.000),more frequency of gingiva bleeding(OR=1.461,95%CI 1.054 to 2.025,P=0.023),with dental calculus(OR=2.620,95%CI 1.664 to 4.127,P=0.000), more frequency of brushing(OR=1.826,95%CI 1.056 to 3.156,P=0.031) respectively. The protective factor of moderately severe dental caries was higher age(OR=0.459,95%CI 0.225 to 0.936,P=0.032). the proportion of consciousness of dental treatment was only 46.8%, the main reason for dental visit was toothache(86.8%),and the main dental service was private dental clinics(88.2%),and the proportion of dental scaling was 68.9%,and the main access of oral health knowledge was TV/radio(95.9%).Conclusion:The oral health status and awareness of Uygur elderly in rural area of Karakax county were poor, and the dental treatment behavior and concepts were passive. It is necessary to strengthen the oral health education and increase the proportion of pr imary prevention and effectiveness of secondary prevention.
