ObjectiveThis study focus on the patients with de Quervain disease treated with acupuncture and massage therapy. Analyze the differences of the statistic of the VAS score, Quinnell grade, Mayo score and wrist angle before and after the two therapies. And assess the extent of the recovery and effectiveness of the two therapies through statistical analysis.MethodsAdopt the principle of random assignment, sixty patients whom met the criteria and divided the patients into two groups acupuncture therapy and massage therapy. Two groups of patients were subjected to the same acupuncture points treatment, once every two days with three sessions.ResultsVAS score:Compile statistics by VAS score of the two groups of patients before treatment, data showed no significant difference, (P>0.05), comparable. After treated with three sessions of a treatment, the two groups of patients had lower VAS scores both. That means the two treatment methods can ease the localized pain of the patients. Compare the VAS score after treatment between the two groups, the score of the acupuncture group was significantly lower than the massage group, (P<0.01).The result showed that the acupuncture therapy with better effect on relieving pain of de Quervain disease. The Clinical symptoms (Quinnell grade) of the two groups:Patients were treated with two sessions of the treatments, compare with pretreatment, data showed no significant difference (P> 0.05), comparable. Relative to pre-treatment, both the two groups of patients were significantly lower clinical score after treatment. Compare to the clinical symptoms after treatment between the two groups, the score of the acupuncture group decreased more significantly, (P<0.01). The result showed that patients received acupuncture therapy to narrow radial styloid tenosynovitis more effectively alleviate clinical symptoms and reduce the symptoms scale. Mayo Wrist Score and Angle measurement:Pre-treatment, the two group of patients received statistics of wrist function and angle measurement,(P> 0.05), comparable. After the patients were treated with different treatment, the degree of wrist joint function increased and the score decreased. There is statistically significant of the statistical analysis of wrist function and angle between the two groups of patients (P<0.01). Comparing the clinical treatment results of two groups on number of Recovery, Significant Effective, Effective,Non Effective respectively:Acupuncture group:13,5,8,4 total effective rate:86%; Traditional massage 0,4,9,17, total effective rate 43% after treatment, according to statistics analysis, it shows the significant result of acupuncture group is more effective than traditional massage (P<0.05). the results of data suggest that acupuncture therapy is much effective on De Quervain disease.ConclusionThe results of data suggest that the patients receiving acupuncture therapy on de Quervain disease are more effective with wrist function recovery, and by measuring the angle of the wrist can be more objective assessment of the extent of recovery.
