ObjectiveThis study aims to assess the immediate effect. the short effect and the long term effect of MTrP-acupotomy on lumbar and coxal myofascial pain syndrome. In order to find a safe and quick therapy with short and long term curative effect on MPS.MethodsIn this study, i select patients who meet the requirements of lumbar and coxal MPS according to trial inclusion criteria, and then divided them into two groups according to their visiting order, each group contains 35 people. The treatment group use MTrP-acupotomy, while the control group use conventional electro-acupuncture. Using the method of observational studies and randomized controlled single-blind study. Observe these two groups’curative effect on lumbar and coxal MPS. Each group is collected information of McGill and JOA score at different observation time, which are before treatment, after one treatment, after the period of treatment and after one month follow-up; observe score of lumbar movement disorder before and after treatment; observe the pain degree and duration of needle feeling. The data was recorded by third party, and data assessed by SPSS22.0 statistical software.ResultIn term of McGill score:compare the score before treatment by the independent sample t test, P>0.05, which means these two groups are comparable. Inter-group comparison for the same observation time of the two groups after treatment is compared by using the independent sample t test. Before and after treatment within the same group is compared by using repeated measures analysis of variance for repeated measures design data. Result is all P<0.05, indicating these two therapies are both effective in improving the McGill score of MPS, besides, the acupotomy combined with cupping therapy have better immediate, short and the long term effect than conventional electro-acupuncture.In term of JOA score:compare the score before treatment by the independent sample t test, P>0.05, which means these two groups are comparable. Inter-group comparison for the same observation time of the two groups after treatment is compared by using the independent sample t test. Before and after treatment within the same group is compared by using repeated measures analysis of variance for repeated measures design data. Result is all P< 0.05, indicating these two therapies are both effective in improving the JOA score of MPS, besides, the acupotomy combined with cupping therapy have better immediate, short and the long term effect than conventional electro-acupuncture.In term of score of lumbar movement disorder:compare the score before treatment by the independent Wilcoxon rank sum test P=0.629. P>0.05, the difference isn’t statistically significant, which means these two groups are comparable. Before and after treatment within the same group is compared by using paired sample Wilcoxon rank sum test, both p<0.01, Inter-group comparison is compared by using independent sample Wilcoxon rank sum test, P=0.035, P< 0.05, which means Acupotomy and electro-acupuncture both can improve the score of lumbar movement disorder, yet Acupotomy is better than electro-acupuncture.In term of curative effect of TCM syndromes types, compare the composition of TCM syndromes type between two groups before treatment by chi-square test, P=0.786, P>0.05. The difference isn’t statistically significant, which means these two groups are comparable. Compare the curative effect of different TCM syndromes types after treatment by using rank test, both P>0.05. the result isn’t statistically significant, indicating the curative effect of different TCM syndromes types are the same.In term of pain degree while needling, using the independent sample t test, P>0.05, thus the pain degree of two teams are the same.In term of duration of needle feeling, using the independent sample t test, p<0.01, which means acupotmy team has longer duration of needle feeling than conventional electro-acupuncture team.Conclusion:(1) MTrP-acupotomy can effectively treat lumbar and coxal MPS.(2) Compared with conventional electro-acupuncture, MTrP-acupotomy therapy have better immediate, short and long term curative effect, and it costs less time and well accepted.
