ObjectiveThe people live in the south area of China have a high incidence of getting calculi in urinary system, the rate is up to 5%-10%. About25%patients need operation to deal with the calculi.Compared to the traditional operation, percutaneous nephrolithotomy has the advantages of less bleeding, quicker recovery and smaller injury on the human body. Percutaneous nephrolithotomy is a popular mode of operation in the treatments of renal calculi. Pain is a common postoperative complication after percutaneous nephrolithotomy.Pain makes patients irritable and interrupts the patient’s rest. The struggle caused by the pain may cause delayed recovery of the patient.Currently, the mean treatment of pain is using analgesic drugs in clinic. In some hospitals, analgesia pump is routinely used to stop pain.Although the analgesic effect is ideal, there is a risk of taking a lumbar puncture and the cost is expensive. Taking intramuscular injection of analgesic drugs or intravenous injection of analgesic drugs is cheaper than using analgesia pump, but there are disadvantages of defective analgesic and some side effects. This study hope using Auricular-plaster Therapy, which is a noninvasive and cheap Chinese tranditional treatment, to reduse the pain after operation. In order to promote the treatment using in clinic in the future.MethodsPatients with kidney calculi in the surgery one of the Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, elective surgery by qualified doctors for percutaneous nephrolithotomy(PCNL) treatment.Selected 32 cases of patients undergoing elective percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), divided into 16 cases of Auricular-plaster Therapy group and blank group of 16 patients by using a random number table. Finally, completed number of patients with full research process of 28 cases, including 14 cases of Auricular-plaster Therapy group(with 2 case dropped)and 14 cases of blank group (with 2 case dropped). Both groups were used Pain Rating Index(PRI) and Visual Analogue Score (VAS) to describe the pain level the patient felt. And they were recorded lh,4h 12h,24h,48h of the two groups of patients’scores. Using the statistical methods to compare two groups of patients PRI scores and VAS scores.whether there are statistical differences between the two groups,to evaluate the clinical efficacy of Auricular-plaster Therapymethod.ResultsComparison of PRI score of postoperative 4h,12h,24h,the PRI scores of Auricular-plaster Therapy group were lower than those of the blank group, with statistical difference (P<0.05). There is no statistical difference of PRI score of postoperative 48h between the two groups of patients.Auricular-plaster Therapy group’s VAS score of postoperative 4h,12h,24h, were lower than those of the blank group, with statistical difference (P<0.05). There is no statistical difference of VAS score of postoperative 48h between the two groups of patients. All of the Auricular-plaster Therapy group’s patients have no adverse reactions.ConelusionAuricular-plaster Therapy can treat the pain after PCNL.which has no adverse reactions. The study shows that Auricular-plaster Therapy can be used to postoperative analgesia after PCNL.
