Objective:To study on the relationship between the main distribution of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome types and related factors in patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, constipation-predominant (IBS-C) in Xiamen area. The epidemiological characteristics, clinical data of TCM syndrome types in IBS-C were explored to improve the therapeutic effects.Method:Using the clinical epidemiological method,178 cases with IBS-C who first seeking for medical advice were selected as the research subjects to investigate the TCM syndrome types, specific symptoms, signs and related factors of them in Xiamen area during 2014 Jan to 2015 Jan. All the data were analyzed by statistics.Results:1. In this observation cases, there were 70 cases of Liver depression and Qi stagnation syndrome(39.33%),69 cases of Intestinal dryness and saliva wound syndrome(38.76%),There was a significant difference (P<0.05) With Liver depression and Qi stagnation syndrome and Intestinal dryness and saliva wound syndrome, there’s no statistically significant difference, but to Deficiency of Qi and Yin syndrome, the two were statistically significant difference (P<0.05). 2.63 cases were male (35.39%),115 cases were female (64.61%), the sex ratio is about 1:1.8253; there were significant differences in the pathogenesis of this disease in gender (P<0.05). Among the syndromes, there is no significant difference in the sex ratio of Liver depression and Qi stagnation syndrome and Deficiency of Qi and Yin syndrome (P>0.05),and both to Intestinal dryness and saliva wound syndrome sex ratio with significant difference (P<0.01). There is a statistical difference between different ages (P<0.05), with 40-59 year old population distribution at most (95 cases,53.38%).3. The main symptom of each syndrome types are as follows: ①Liver depression and Qi stagnation syndrome:abdominal distention & pain, abdominal fullness, belching, preference for sighing, dry stool; ②Intestinal dryness and saliva wound syndrome:dry stool, polydipsia, abdominal distension & pain, abdominal fullness, restless; ③Deficiency of Qi and Yin syndrome:dry stool, loss of appetite, belching, abdominal fullness, lassitude. The main symptom of each syndrome has a significant difference (P<0.05).4. In terms of related lifestyle factors, special hobbies of patients with IBS-C include addicted to spicy food (100 cases), irregular diet (94 cases), sluggish emotion (80 cases), drinking (74 cases), eating greasy (72 cases) etc. Each syndromes and different: ① Liver depression and Qi stagnation syndrome:sluggish emotion, irregular diet, eating spicy, stress of work, drinking as the main related factors; ②Intestinal dryness and saliva wound syndrome:eating spicy, eating greasy, irregular eating habits, eating sweets, drinking as the main related factors; ③Deficiency of Qi and Yin syndrome:irregular diet, eating spicy, overwork, drinking, stress of work as the main factors related to. There are significant differences between the related factors between different syndrome types (P<0.01).5. Patient education has a statistically significant (P<0.05) in the pathogenesis of IBS-C in patients with highly education (including high school, college, university and higher education) totaled 130 cases (73.04%), significantly higher than middle school education or less patients (P<0.01). Number of patients technicians were significantly more than other occupational group (P<0.05).Conclusion:1. Xiamen area of IBS-C in the incidence of people with the sex ratio of 1: 1.8253, more women than men, women are more fluid Intestinal dryness and saliva wound syndrome, other syndromes no significant difference in the incidence of sex. Population-based incidence of middle-aged people, middle-aged people should pay more attention to prevention and treatment of IBS-C.2. Liver depression and Qi stagnation syndrome & Intestinal dryness and saliva wound syndrome are the most common TCM syndrome types, indicating that treatment should focus on relieving the depressed liver and moistening the intestines of both. Although Deficiency of Qi and Yin syndrome did not be added as diagnostic standard by Guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of digestive disease of TCM. But it is one of the main TCM syndromes types of IBS-C.3. The main symptom of each syndrome types are as follows: ①Liver depression and Qi stagnation syndrome:abdominal distention & pain, abdominal fullness, belching, preference for sighing, dry stool; ②Intestinal dryness and saliva wound syndrome:dry stool, polydipsia, abdominal distension & pain, abdominal fullness, restless; ③Deficiency of Qi and Yin syndrome:dry stool, loss of appetite, belching, abdominal fullness, lassitude.4. Treatment should pay attention to the guidance of IBS-C in patients with attention to diet, emotional and other factors can better play the role of the non-drug treatment and the prevention this disease in TCM.5. The highly educated population and in particular mental professionals should pay more attention to prevention and treatment of IBS-C.
