The Mental Health Status Of Hunan Town Doctors

ObjectiveEvaluate the mental health status of Hunan town doctors from the quality of life, anxiety, depression, job burnout and sleep, and discuss the related impact factors, so to provide basis of empirical research to improve their mental health status.MethodsThe Health Department of Hunan Province transferred town doctors from every town hospitals in Hunan to participate a training, and this study tested all of the town doctors who were participating this training on November-December in2013.They were tested with WHOQOL-BREF, STAI, MBI-GS, CES-D and PSQI which were used to assessed quality of life, anxiety, job burnout, depression and sleep respectively.All data were conducted by using SPSS17.0statistical package, and the characteristics and impact factors of quality of life, anxiety, job burnout, depression and sleep were discussed in this study.Results:1. The mental health status of Hunan town doctors:1. Quality of life:33.83%of their total evaluations of quality of life are "good" and above,59.68%are "general", and6.48%are "bad" and below.48.78%of their total evaluations of their health are "good" and above,38.35%are "general", and12.88%are "bad" and below. The score of physiological, psychological and social environment are significantly higher than domestic norm, and the score of social relations have no significant difference with domestic norm.2. Anxiety:16.82%of their sore of S-AI and24.25%of their sore of T-AI are greater than or equal to50.3. Depression:41.16%of their sore of CES-D are higher than15.4.Job burnout:There are51.22%of them have emotional exhaustion,61.94%have cynicism and34.12%have reduced personal accomplishment.6.Sleep:22.65%of their sore of PSQI are more than7.2.The impact factors of the mental health status of Hunan town doctors:1.Quality of life:Those who are older and have anxiety strait, depression, emotional exhaustion, low personal accomplishment and high PSQI have low score in physiological. Those who are female and have anxiety status, depression, emotional exhaustion, cynicism, low personal accomplishment and high PSQI have low score in psychological.Those who have high professional title, anxiety statue, depression, cynicism, low personal accomplishment and high PSQI have low score in social relations.Those who have anxiety statue, depression, emotional exhaustion and high PSQI have low score in social environment.2.Anxiety:Male, depression, emotional exhaustion, low personal accomplishment, low score in physiological and social environment have high score in anxiety status.Depression, emotional exhaustion, cynicism, low personal accomplishment, low physiological and social environment score have high score in anxiety strait.3.Depression:Anxiety statues, anxiety strait, emotional exhaustion, cynicism, low personal accomplishment and psychological, high PSQI have high score in depression.4.Job burnout:Those who are female, young and have high education, anxiety status, depression, high PSQI, low physiological and social environment have high score in emotional exhaustion.Those who are young, and have high education, and have depression, low psychological and social relationship have high score in cynicism.Those who are single, and have low education, anxiety strait, depression, low physiological and PSQI have low score in personal accomplishment.5.Sleep:Depression, emotional exhaustion, high personal accomplishment and low physiological have high score in sleep.ConclusionThe quality of life of Hunan town doctors is higher than domestic norm, but they have anxiety, depression, job burnout and sleep disorder. Quality of life, anxiety, depression, job burnout and sleep have correlation with each other, and they have impact on the mental health level of town doctors.In addition, the female, older and with high professional title are easier to have low quality of life.The male is easier to have anxiety.The female, young and with high education are easier to have job burnout.It is necessary to take targeted intervention measures to improve the mental health of town doctors.
