Objective:The Objective of this study is to explore the orthopedic nurses’ perception of humanistic nursing care in a three-level general hospital of Shanghai; to describe orthopedic nurses’ cognitive situation of humanistic nursing care under the background of the Chinese culture, and to provide research reference for orthopedic nurses when they conduct nursing humanistic care at work.Method:A phenomenological approach was utilized in this study, Participants signed informed consents before receiving semi-structured in-depth interviews in data collection phase, the collection phase didn’t end until the information saturated. Seventeen orthopedic nurses were deeply interviewed, data reach saturation, then end of data collection work. The material was analyzed and refined to5themes.Results:Five themes of orthopedic nurses’ perception on humanistic nursing care are as followed:humanistic nursing care should focus on patients’ needs; humanistic nursing care should focus on patient demand for individuality and dynamic development; humanistic nursing care should be actualized through interpersonal interaction;"Career sense of responsibility" and " conscience" embodies in humanistic nursing care; nurses should be able to implement humanistic nursing care. The five elements depend on and influence each other, forming a dynamics process in order to meet patients’ demand of the humanistic care.Conclusion:This study describes the orthopedic nurses’ cognitive perception of humanistic nursing care and tries to show the relationship between the themes of humanistic nursing care, and provides orthopedic nurses intuitive impression on the characteristic of humanistic nursing care. Therefore, can help orthopedic nurses understand the concrete connotation of humanistic nursing care, and provide practical guidance to orthopedic nurses when they implement humanistic nursing care.
