Study Background and Objective: The healing of herpes zoster, the rash area in theoriginal subcutaneous longstanding severe pain called post-herpetic neuralgia(Post-herpetic neuralgia, PHN), namely chinese traditional medicine called " herpesZoster pain after healing ".The migration average rate from Herpes Zoster to PHN is10%-20%. Currently, although there is no effective treatment, but in time, the activecombined using medicine and acupuncture is still the main methods. This studyattempts to acupuncture and chinese medicine synergies in different effectcomplementary of treating it. Through randomized controlled method to observe theclinical efficacy of acupuncture and medicine, in order to verify feasibility of the ideaand method that synergies between acupuncture and medicine applications.Material and Method:The study followed60patients with PHN in the acupunctureclinic and medicine ward of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian MedicalUniversity during the period from March2013to February2014. According to the timesequence, we randomly divided60patients into three groups, including acupuncturegroup、 chinese medicine group and acupuncture combined with medicinegroup.Statistical analysis showed that the three groups were no significantlydifferent(P>0.05) in gender, age, disease location, course of illness and SF-MPQ scorebefore treatment,so that those three groups are comparable. All patients are given tooral vitamin B1, B6each20mg; mecobalamin500μg,three times a day as basictreatment. Acupuncture group was given deep stab Jiaji points of pain regionalcorresponding nerve segment, Affected areas with multi-needle shallow puncture and Wai thorn.distal acupoints are combined: If HZ above the waist withHegu,Waiguan,Quchi.etc, below the waist with Yanglingquan, Qiu xu, Taichong etc. Then bloodletting; TCM group was treated with decoction, that main role issupplementing qi and nourishing yin, stagnation dispersing and meridian dredgingliquid, acupuncture combined with medicine group received apricking oral medicinedecoction by supplementing qi and nourishing yin and acupuncture.Acupuncture once aday, three times a week, medicine decoction once a day for8weeks.we use SF-MPQpain points in comparative study of three groups before and after8weeks treatment, andthen record scores,we establish a database with collected after that we take statistiealanalysis by software Paekage SPSS13.0and assess clinical efficacy.Results:1. The three treatments for PHN have an effect definitly. After treatment, threegroups’SF-MPQ pain scores significantly lower than before the treatment (P<0.05).acupuncture combined with medicine group are better the others (P <O.05).It‘stotal efficiency is90%(18/20), better than acupuncture group65%(13/20, P <O.05)and medicine group (12/20, P <O.05).2. After treatment, the three groups in PRI、VAS、 PPI points are significantly decreased compared with before (P <0.01, P <0.05),The three have a good therapeutic effect, they can effectively reduce pain symptoms, acupuncture combined with medicine group is best. Conclusion: From the view of the synergies between acupuncture and medicinetreatingPHN.AS we knows, acupuncture plays the promoting blood circulation andregulating the flow of local blood, medicion can supplementing qi and nourishing yin.helping internal Organism. The comprehensive treatment of PHN received significanteffect, It can effectively relieve pain symptoms, Thus we verify the feasibility of theidea about complementary prescriptions on treating postherpetic neuralgia.
