Objective:To observe the effects of donepezil together with rehabilitation on vascular cognitive impairment after stroke.Method:Sixty-four patients with vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) were randomly divided into medicine group (n=32) and control group (n=32). All participants were adults (37male and27female; mean age,64.089.67). Patients in both group were given rehabilitation training for1-month, and the patients in medicine group were treated with donepezil5mg/d for1-month yet. All patients with VCI were assessed by mini-mental state examination (MMSE), P300auditory event-related potentials and Barthel index (BI) before and after1-month treatments.Result:After1-month treatments, the medicine group gain a remarkable higher scores in MMSE and activity of daily living (ADL) than those before the treatments (P<0.01), and its MMSE improvement after treatments was in place orientation and executive function (P<0.01), and in time orientation and memory (P<0.05). Also, patients in medicine group gain a remarkable shorten P300latency (P<0.01), and a higher P300amplitude (P<0.05); The control group gain higher scores in MMSE and ADL than before (P<0.05), and the MMSE improvement was in time orientation (P<0.01), and in place orientation and executive function (P<0.05). P300latency of the control group was shorten (P<0.05), however, P300amplitude didn’t have an obvious change(P>0.05); Comparing the two group after the treatments, MMSE and ADL improvement were better in medicine group (P<0.05), but there was no statistically significant difference in MMSE subitem (P>0.05). P300latency in medicine group was shorten (P<0.05), while P300amplitude was obviously higher (P<0.01).Conclusion:Compared with merely rehabilitation, rehabilitation together with donepezil has a better effect on stroke patients with VCI, even both of them can improve the cognitive function and activity of daily living.5mg donepezil every night in use of treating stroke patients with VCI can be safe and effective,while there’s less side effects. P300latency can assess VCI patients’improvement of cognitive function. As patients’cognitive function improve, it may be more conducive to the recovery of patients’ motor function.
