Gingko Biloba Combined With Donepezil In Treating Vascular Cognitive Impairment-A Clinical Observation

Objective:To observe the effect of Gingko biloba combined with Donepezil on cognitive function,TCM Syndrome Score and Event-related potential P300 of patients with vascular cognitive impairment(VCI).Methods:Sixty patients with VCI were randomly averagly divided into western medicine group which treated with only donepezil and combination group which treated with Gingko biloba on the basis of western medicine group.The therapeutic effect were evaluated by observing changes of Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale(MoCA),P300 amplitude and latency and Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)Syndrome Score after treatment for 24 weeks.Results:(1)There was no significant difference in sex,age,educational level and chronic diseases between the two groups(P>0.05).(2)After treatment for 24 weeks,MoCA scores of combination group were significantly higher than those of western medicine group,respectively(P>0.05).What's more,The latency and amplitude of P300 of combination group were also shorter and higher than those in western medicine group,respectively(P<0.05).Compared with western medicine group at posttreatment,combination group got higher MoCA scores and P300 amplitude,and shorter P300 latency(P<0.05).(3)There was no significant deversity in TCM syndrome score between those two groups before treatment(P>0.05).When compared with prior treatment,higher scores were got at posttreatment,difference was statistically significant(p<0.05)in both of groups,in addition,the TCM syndrome score of combination group were lower than those in western medicine group.Conclusion:The combination of donepezil and Gingko biloba can effectively improve the cognitive function of patients with vascular cognitive impairment,including MoCA score and TCM syndrome score improvement,as while as cutting down the P300 latency and enhancing the P300 amplitude after treatment compared with western medicine group.
