Objective: Observe and record the moxibustion sensation, duration of time, typeduring moxibustion and body surface’s reaction after moxibustion respectivelybetween the two groups by penetrating-moxibustion and traditional moxibustion, and analysis the relationship between the various moxibustion-effects and efficacy,in order to provide basis and reference on the expected effect in the treatment oflumbar disc herniation and other diseases by penetrating-moxibustion.Methods:Use the randomized parallel controlled study, divided60patients withlumbar disc herniation that meet the inclusion criterion into two groups randomly, namely penetrating-moxibustion group and traditional moxibustion group,30casesin each. According to local acupoints selection theory, Shenshu(BL23),Dachangshu(BL25), Mingmen(GV4), Ashi point are selected.Penetrating-moxibustion group were treated with acupuncture andPenetrating-moxibustion, while traditional moxibustion group with acupuncture andtraditional moxibustion. Treat1time per day,5times as1course, totally treat3courses. In every application, ask about and record the moxibustion sensation, duration and type in the process, and observe the moxibustion effect in the end, symptoms and comprehensive score were recorded before and after treatment, makea clinical follow-up after one month of the treatment, and do statistics analysis toevaluate the curative effect.Results:1.Effects: Penetrating-moxibustion group cure21cases, markedlyeffective6cases, effective2cases, invalid1cases, the cure rate was70%, the totalefficiency were96.67%; traditional moxibustion group,15cases were cured, markedly effective8cases, effective4cases, invalid3cases, the cure rate was50%,the total efficiency were90%; statistical analysis P=0.000(P<0.05), the differencewas significant.2. Score of symptoms and signs: comparisons in the interior-group and inter-groupin two groups’ M-JOA and VAS score before and after treatment, all p<0.05, there were statistically significant differences.3. Effect of Moxibustion: comparisons in two groups in topo-sansation, duration oftime, sensation type, deep penetration and distal conduction, the compoundmoxibustion sensation, reaction effects after moxibustion, all p<0.05, thedifferences were statistically significant.4.Follow-up after1a month later, the penetrating-moxibustion group had2casesrecurrence, the recurrence rate was6.67%,5cases of traditional moxibustion groupof recurrence, the rate was16.67%, after comparison, P=0.000<0.05, the differencewas statistically significant.Conclusions:1.Compared with traditional moxibustion, penetrating-moxibustioncan significantly improve the clinical efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment oflumbar disc herniation.2. Penetrating-moxibustion method has adequate moxibustion quantity, canfully stimulate the meridian Qi, moxibustion sensation occurrence rate, duration, type and reaction after moxibustion were better than traditional moxibustion,penetrating-moxibustion can significantly improve the efficiency of moxibustion.3. Follow-up after one month, people in penetrating-moxibustion group wereremained well, superior than traditional moxibustion group,penetrating-moxibustion can be achieved the “effect a permanent cure”, long-termefficacy was significant and with a lower recurrence.4. Penetrating-moxibustion take body reaction and patients’ feel as thestandard, prominent the individual therapy features in Chinese medicine, eliminatesthe moxibustion pain, liberates the human, and give a rational use of mox-smoke,improves the thermal efficiency, protect the environment, avoid the scald andensure the safety, improve the clinical efficiency, achieve a effective therapeuticeffect, superior to other acupuncture-moxbustion methods, can be used as the mainmethods in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation.
