Taking the aerial parts of ural licorice(Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch.) in Xinjiang as feed ingredients, in this study, first of all make a digestion metabolism test with mixed swards meal replaced by the aerial parts of ural licorice meal in vitro(trial 1), after make a production performance verification test for best mixture select(trial 2) coming to conclusion finally.Trial 1:The in vitro fermentation experiment was incubated with mixed swards meal replaced by the aerial parts of ural licorice meal at ratios of 0:100(G0), 20:80(G20), 40:60(G40), 60:40(G60), 80:20(G80)and 100:0(G100) for 2, 4, 8, 12, 24, 36 and 48 h, respectively, observation and assessment of rumen fermentation parameters including gas production, in vitro dry matter digestibility, p H and volatile fatty acid concentration of fermentation liquid for 48 h fermentation in ruminant animal. The results showed that gas volume and rate of gas production were decreased with increasing levels of the aerial parts of ural licorice meal inclusion, and significantly decreased when 60% mixed swards meal replaced by the aerial parts of ural licorice meal compared with G0, G20 and G40(P<0.05).The in vitro dry matter digestibility of G0, G20 and G40 was extremely higher than those of G60, G80 and G100(P<0.01).The pH value increased and total volatile fatty acids concentration decreased in the fermentation liquid with increasing of the aerial parts of ural licorice meal. The results indicated that when exceed 60% mixed swards meal replaced by the aerial parts of ural licorice meal was added, it had some inhibitory effects on rumen fermentation, while it had no bad affection that replacement ratio was 20~40% in sheep under conditions in this study.Trial 2:18 Bachu goats(body weight of 18.13±3.21kg) were parity allocated into 3 groups, implemented the feeding trial period of two months. Three treatments included:1)control group(Ctrl), 50%mixed concentrate+50% rice straw; 2)test group 1(G25), 50% mixed concentrate+25% rice straw+25% the aerial parts of ural licorice;3) test group 2(G50), 50% mixed concentrate+50% the aerial parts of ural licorice. The result showed that no significant differences were observed in the dry matter intake and the apparent digestibility of all test groups(P>0.05), and the apparent digestibility of neutral detergent fiber of G25 was increased than other groups, and compared with G50 group(P<0.05).The p H,total volatile fatty acids concentration and the acetate/propionate ratio of rumen fluid was not affected by feeding the aerial parts of ural licorice, but the ammonia-N concentration was decreased in G25 and G50 groups than that in Ctrl group. In the final stage trials, no significant differences in the blood characteristics and the averaged daily gain between in all test groups(P>0.05), and the feed conversion efficiency of G25 was increased compared with Ctrl and G50 groups. In conclusion, the use aerial parts of ural licorice appropriate alternative forage in the total mixed ration, improve animal feeding effect tendency, substitution of about 25% alternative compared to feeding effect is better, the suggestion of application in production.
