This experiment was use of Hami melon stem as a material (The following is use melon stem), measure of its yield, silage suitability and nutrient characteristics; Modulate conventional silage, wilting silage, and mixed silage with Hunnigreen, discuss the possibility of silage storage; Carried out in vitro fermentation experiment and sheep feeding experiment, in order to provide reasonable for the theoretical basis of melon stem.(1) The determination for yield of Hami melon stem, and as a material find out its feed and nutritional characteristics. The results show that, the total yield of stem and melon eggs of Hami melon were 22815 kg/hm2, fresh yield of melon stem were 17993 kg/hm2, dry yield of melon stem2519 kg/hm2, and the melon stem yield accounts for about 78.86% of total yield stem and melon eggs of Hami melon. The moisture were 86.93%, water soluble sugar content were 6.58%, buffer capacity of melon stem were 930.8 mEq/kg, melon stem dry matter crude protein, neutral detergent fiber contents were 7.37% and 44.65%, belong to high moisture content and high buffer capacity silage material.(2) Fresh melon stem were added salt, salt+compound bacteria(0.02%), salt+compound bacteria(0.02%)+formic acid (0.03%) making conventional silage; Use wilting melon stem, making low moisture silage or mixed silage with Hunnigreen, discuss the effect of wilting or mixed silage fermentation. Hunnigreen replaced and Hami melon stem at the 0:100(GO),20:80(G20),40:60(G40),60:40(G60), 80:20(G80) and 100:0(G100) ratio modulate mixed silage, discuss the possibility of silage storage. Fresh melon stem modulate conventional silage and wilting silage can improve total acid content, but can't reduce the pH value, not up to the standard of quality silage; Melon stem and mixed silage with Hunnigreen can improve fermentation quality, in this the mixed silage significantly reduce pH value(P<0.05), reflected possibility of the high quality mixed silage fermentation. In the modulate different proportion silage of Hami melon stem and Hunnigreen, With the increase of the proportion of Hunnigreen addition, the pH value decreased, lactic acid and total acid content increased, the best ratio of Hami melon stem and Hunnigreen was G60%:40%.(3) The in vitro fermantation experiment use the mixed grass meal replaced by the crushing Hami melon stem at ratios of 0:100(GO),20:80(G20),40:60(G40),60:40(G60),80:20(G80),100:0(G100), respectively, observed the effect on in vitro gas production and the fermentation characteristic; Feeding experimentcontrol group was setting concentrate feed (50%) mixed with Hunnigreen meal (50%), melon stem meal group was concentrate feed (50%) mixed with (25%)Hunnigreen meal and (25%)melon stem meal, melon stem silage group was concentrate feed (50%) mixed with (25%)Hunnigreen meal and (25% )melon stem silage, and carried a month of feeding experiments. The result show that, in vitro fermentation substrates, with the increase of the proportion of melon stem, gas production rate and the dry matter degradation rate increased. Among them, the melon stem and mixed grass meal most replacement ratio80:20 (G80) had no negative effect on rumen fermentation. The feeding experiment result showed that the melon stem meal group was increase the dry matter intake, feeding habits and the apparent digestion rate of organic matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber were higher than other groups (P<0.05). The pH value of rumen fluid was no significant differences between each group of sheep, but the concentration of propionic acid and total volatile fatty acids (TVFA) increased (P<0.05), ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) concentration significantly reduced in melon stem group than in other control group (P<0.05). Blood chemicals of sheep no significant change between each group of sheep. In the feeding experiment show The palatability of melon stem meal is superior than melon stem silage,25% of melon stem meal mixed in to ration can improve the feed intake, digestibility and weight gain of sheep, and no negative efficiency for rumianal fermentation and blood chemicals.
