Canine Babesiasis mainly spread by ticks biting, infection via the placenta, bloodcatransfusion or dogs taken along babesia biting, which insects multiply in dogs’ red cells andresulting in severe hemolytic anemia and high mortality causing a serious harm to the dog’slife health. Canine Babesia widely popular all over the world, but Babesia species geographicdistribution varies. At present, with the rapid development of molecular biology more andmore types of Babesia pathogens were found and the investigation proved that differentspecies of Babesia pathogens infected in dogs have different clinical manifestations.According to the reports show Babesia gibsoni, Babesia vitalli majorly epidemic in Asia. Inrecent years, the incidence of this disease was epidemic in Xi’an area, also with the growingnumber of dogs and cats into a domestic partner, community medical standards for smallanimals have become increasingly demanding. Therefore, studies and surveys in Xi’an areaCanine Babesia species, epidemiology, treatment and prognosis of small animal clinicalprovide blood parasites on the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and prevention and controlmore resources.This study discusses the diagnose, treatment and prognosis of23cases infected BabesiaGibsoni dogs which were collected in Xi’an Happy Home Pet Hospital from October2013toSeptember2013, aiming at researching comprehensively and discussing the epidemiccondition, treatment protocols and recurrence rate of babesiasis in Xi’an district, which couldprovide new references for clinical diagnosis and treatment in small animals. Research showsthat canine babesiasis is mainly caused by Babesia Gibsoni in Xi’an, and the incubationperiod is mainly7~20days. The diagnosis of babesiasis is finding Babesia Gibsoni in bloodsmear microscopy. Among23cases babesiasis dogs,3cases died with secondaryimmune-mediated hemolytic anemia, Recovery rate of12%. The occurrence rate of thedisease is21%,and occurrence happens after recovery1~3months.Epidemiological survey,the incidence of this disease with age, sex was no significant correlation, the incidence of theseason mainly in spring to autumn, no infection occurred in winter. Based on the above results,Xi’an canine babesiasis mainly by Babesia Gibsoni infection, the main mode of transmissionof vector-borne dependence, Seasonal incidence concentrated in the spring and autumn, the blood smear is the main method for clinical diagnosis of the disease, Diminazene insecticidaland supportive therapy can be effective in treating canine Babesia Gibsoni.
