According to the requirements of the design of a medium caliber naval gun. this paper regard improving the firing rate as the main target in a key pre research project as the background. The paper finally determine the principles and the main component of the naval gun automatic mechanism, and carries on the simulation analysis.First of all, the paper starts from the working principle. Through analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the working principle of the various types of automata, the paper finally chooses gas operated revolver automaton principle as the working principle of the medium caliber naval gun automaton. Because the size of the caliber ammunition is far different from the small caliber ammunition, the author design the automaton revolver body with five chamber and divide the ammunition ramming into three times. Because of the special structure of the bottom edge of the medium caliber projectile and the effection of three times ramming, the author design a special sprocket with unusual form and a star body. Secondly, after determine the working principle of automaton and the important component, the paper chooses the ADAMS software to carry on the dynamics simulation analysis to the automaton using the virtual prototyping technology. In this part, the author simplifies the detailed parameters of gas guide chamber, and regard it as a big force which has really short acting time. Also the detailed parameters of buffer has been simplified to a mathematical model. In the result of simulation analysis, the author analyzes the active plate, the automaton revolver body and the sprocket, also analyzes the influence of several buffer device of recoil. Finally, the author analyzes the effection of main parameters on firing frequency and recoil. The research methods and results of this paper has certain reference value to improve the caliber automatic gun firing rate.
