In the plastic mold injection molding industry, the demand of curve hole is increasing. This is because after the accuracy and surface quality of ultra-precision injection mold reaches a certain extent, continue to improve its quality does not make the quality of injection corresponding increase, only to increase production costs. On the other hand, improve the temperature control precision of injection mold has a very important influence on increasing the quality of the injection. Studies have shown that using an integral curve hole as the cool track tents to achieve a more precise control of the temperature, the quality of injection mold parts can be further improved. Thus, the curve hole processing technology has played an important role in injection molding industry.This paper designs a curve hole EDM robot, which can machine a simple curve hole. Robot imitates the movement of the inchworm, driving with working fluid recoil and SMA. Through the electrode of head structure, mold material machined by electrical discharge. Robot feeds step by step to the processing direction, machining curve hole which is require.First, plan the direction of total design. Each part of the preliminary design of the robot was created by using the software Solidworks, which can build 3D models. To achieve better processing effect, changes are made in part of the structure on the basis of the first program. The main change is the driving method, alters from single drive to hybrid drive. Then by calculating and perfecting models, difference in driving force and cornering force is analyzed in the two programs, and the minimum bend radius of the hole is also calculated. Finally, using software ANSYS to simulate fluid of the two programs, compare the flow condition. The structure of the robot head of the second scheme is optimized. Explore the impact of various incident angles of the working fluid on machining. Make a conclusion that the second scheme has a better machining condition when the incident angle is 135°.Bionic curve hole robot has a stable drive, simple structure, and a fallback mechanism. With higher processing efficiency, it is possible to machine more complex curve hole under the combined effects of fluid recoil and SMA spring force. It provides a useful reference for the robot of curve hole machining in further study.
