Chen Jing Han Shi Commentary (1913-1929)

Chen Jinghan, a famous journalist in the early twentieth century. He was renowned at that time for his review of current affairs featuring “cold and sharp”, and he has become the role model of many scholars. Till today, Chen Jinghan once again become scholars’ figure of study because of his great achievements in fields of journalism history and literature. This thesis aims to make a comprehensive analysis from both horizontal and vertical aspect with the review essays wrote during 1913 to 1929 by Chen Jinghan as the study object, the 17 years’ as the time interval, during which Chen Jinghan was the editor of Chun Pao. From the horizontal aspect, this paper analyze the general trend of the review written by Shun Pao’s chef editor Chen Jinghan during 1913to1929, in terms of content, structure and writing techniques. From the vertical aspect, it analyze the evolution process of Chen Jinghan’s review between 1913to1929.
