An Analysis Of The Report On "Unreaching" In Newspapers

Loss of the only child is a new term since 2012, the loss of the only child is an important issue of society. On the one hand, the parents who lose the only child belong to the social vulnerable groups, Reporting "loss of the only child issue" comprehensively, objectively and effectively will help the society understand the living conditions of the parents who lose the only child comprehensively and objectively, also will provide references for the government policy-making about the "loss of the only child issue". The appropriate reports about "loss of the only child issue" will help improve the situation that the loss of the only child group has little discourse power in modern society, will provide a platform for the parents who lose the only child to express their intention and emotion. Studying the current status of mass media report "loss of the only child issue", finding the problems and putting forward relevant suggestions, will help the mass media play a better role of the society. On the other hand, vulnerable groups has been an important part of the media reports, studying how the media report vulnerable groups is an important field of journalism and communication.However, the loss of the only child groups is vulnerable groups as the media paying attention to, the study of this field of journalism and communication is such lack of, this paper attempts to do something in this field.This artical study the two mainstream newspapers"People’s Daily" and "the Beijing News" using the method of content analysis, sums up the present situation of China’s media on the "loss of the only child" reports, so as to find the problems and put forward relevant recommendations. This study found that the concern degree of the media about the loss of the only child issue showed a rising trend,there is,however,something formulaic about the reports, including reporting a single theme, lack of constructive suggestions, blindly to the positive report and reports in the form of a single etc.These issues reflect the media report the issue of loss of the only child is not in terms of providing information, communication, education and other aspects of the role the media should played. In this paper, I present some suggestions, first of all, the media can pay more attention to the dominant position of the parents who lost the only child, pay more attention to the status of the loss of the only child; secondly, attention should be paid to the diversification of form of the reports, using more news pictures, enhancing the infectivity of reports and using more communication style to enhance the readability of the report. I believe that the media report the loss of the only child issue more comprehensively and effectively, the media can play a better role and to practice the social responsibility of the media better.
