Now, the environmental problems have become the main problem of the development of society, the state also gradually introduce more stringent environmental protection laws and regulations system. the maturity of the Chinese car market at the same time also led to the increasingly heated competition in the market, car makers and their suppliers need to be developed in a faster speed leading technology and safety performance of the engine control algorithm. But the traditional way of software development has been unable to meet the needs of engine software development, so, the model-based software development process is very important.The first, this article introduces the background of the model-based software development and main meaning of the subject. Then in view of the development process based on V-cycle, we analyze the related tools and the development process of the ECU model-based software development, and establish the basis for the application of software development and the design of rail pressure control algorithm. On this basis, the ECU control algorithm model of high pressure common rail diesel engine is established in Simulink environment which cantains the main fuel injection quantity control model, the main injection advance angle control model and the rail pressure control model. In order to verify the validity of the control algorithm, the model of the control algorithm is calibrated and the related experiments are carried out to verify the MAP diagrams. The experimental results show that the engine starting process is fast, the engine speed is stable under normal operating conditions, and the validity of the control algorithm can adjust the target oil quantity and rail pressure automatically according to the environment and the current demand of the engine. Not only the algorithm can meet the requirement of engine starting, normal and variable condition,but also provides the basis for the control algorithm for vehicle control.After designing the rail pressure control algorithm, by studying the possible reasons of the pressure failure of fuel injection, we design the fault diagnosis and protection module associated with the injection pressure such as the high pressure oil pump solenoid valve of diesel engine,the fault diagnosis of rail pressure sensor, the fault diagnosis of rail pressure loop and so on. Through Simulating a variety of rail pressure failure, the results show that the fault diagnosis and protection module is effective.
