With the energy crisis, environmental degradation and other problems have become increasingly prominent, in the field of internal combustion engine works, engine electronic control system has more precise control, and achieve better combustion process, thus it gradually replace the traditional mechanical control. At the same time, as people's requirements for vehicle power, comfort, economy, and security continue to increase, thus electronic control system functions are more and more complex, the number of electronic control units are increasing. Thus, ECU will determine the development cycle of the engine or vehicle to market.In recent years, the development of the ECU software control strategies is important and difficult with the opening of the system hardware. In the early stage of system development, the actual control object was connected to external environment into the closed-loop control circuit through rapid prototyping platform, the user could change the control algorithms rapidly and generate the controller mode which running on real-time hardware to test control algorithms. Rapid control prototyping technology is a higher degree of confidence in the system simulation in the electronic control system development of complex control algorithm and authentication, which can achieve the development and validation in parallel and effectively reducing the development costs, shorten the development cycle.Based on the above condition, the author has summarized the status of domestic and rapid prototyping system, and analyzed the development trend of rapid prototyping systems, and then researched the rapid prototyping of application object-the engine electronic control system works, structure in detail, and rapid prototyping technology principles and theories of knowledge. through comparative analysis of the three typical functional structure of rapid rototyping platform, the author provided a rapid control development prototype system approach which was based real-time processor, a programmable gate circuit (FPGA) and the Lab VIEW graphical modeling tool. The author designed the overall structure of the system, hierarchical structures and functional modules and software efinement; Finally, the key modules of rapid prototyping platform has been designed using the LabVIEW software in detail, which followed the universal, modular, software development principles. The key modules as follows:input and output interface, the platform features, hardware integrationand configuration, the model of fast download, input and output characteristics of monitoring, the establishment of a platform for user interface.This study is the development of rapid control prototyping system independent preparatory work, the platform can work effectively, which indicated that the development approach based on NI software and hardware can satisfy the system requirements. It makes the foundation for development and validation in the development of control system software.
