The emergence of image earlier than character and as the initial medium of information spreading in the development of human history, image reflect historic features intuitively. Along with the development of the ability of cognizance of human beings, absolutely, image is becoming more and more vivid. However, the development of image is never a straight line, but related to national fusion and cultural shock. Because of this, some images of different places show some similarity.To explain those similarities should cover two aspects, on the one hand, the artists changed local image organically through fusing some external elements, on the other hand, the artists made external image deconstruction so that to produce a new image form. This two aspects of changing image is called ‘the fusion and derivation of image’ in this dissertation.This dissertation aim to study creation intention of artists through analysis the fusion and derivation of image. The dissertation choose carvings of Christian angles of Quanzhou as a example to do a case study and the first part will focus on exploring the reason of the carving emergence. The second part will explain the differences and similarities of ‘image fusion’ and ‘image derivation’ through some examples. The third part will investigate the law of development and inner link of the fusion and derivation of image in fine arts field from the aspect of creative idea. The final part will summarize whole article and illustrate the relationship between writer and the fusion and derivation of image.
