Food quality and safety situation is an important symbol of he quality of people’s life and the level of economic development of a country. A series of exposure of food safety incidents not only indicates the lack of government supervision of food safety and the loss of social responsibility and moral integrity of food processing workers, also shows a serious lack of food safety knowledge of ordinary people. Soit is essential to investigate and analyze the documents of food science to popularize food safety knowledge, so as to prevent food safety problems from the consumer terminal. Thispaper investigates the food science literature resources collection and utilization systematicly, from the point of view of ordinary consumers, taking a sample survey method, literature survey, investigation, questionnaire, statistics and experimental investigation method, as well as the typical survey and comprehensive analysis, by surveying in Harbin. The survey reflects the low level of people’s perception of food safety, several factors affecting people’s awareness of the foodsafety, not enough food safety knowledge propaganda and popularization, the traditional mode of the library being not conducive to the application of documents of food science and the spread of knowledge, etc. This leads to the serious lack of food safety knowledge, thus affecting the economic development and social stability. On how to improve the popularization of food safety knowledge and utilization of documents of food science, the paper suggests university library opens to the public to realize the sharing of resources, crears an information model of wisdom library shared spaces to attract people to increase reading, sets up food safety electivecourses in university, recommends consumers’active role in food problems, so as to improve the national food safety awareness, and create a stable and harmonious social environment.
