The Lifting operation has always been a very important part in the construction process. Under the background of the government vigorously promoting the industrialized construction and the domestic projects becoming more and more large and complex, a huge market demand for the development of the lifting industry has brought new impetus, but also higher requirements. To ensure the successful completion of the lifting operations, a feasible and safe lifting program was needed to guide the lifting process. Currently, in the face of increasingly large and complex projects, the way of developing the lifting program that was mainly by artificial, was complicated and inefficient, and its safety and feasibility could not be guaranteed. At the same time, the rapid development of computer technology provided more possibilities for the innovation of the technical industries. Lifting simulation technology came into being in this context, and became the future development direction of the lifting industry. In this paper, the research object was the truck crane which occupied a dominant position in the market demand of the mobile crane. Combined with BIM technology theory, a virtual simulation systematic method was established to study on the lifting simulation technology for large truck crane. With a wealth of graphical tools to simulate lifting process, the stress state of the crane in the real lifting process and the collision or interference between all kinds of lifting elements could be simulated, and the demonstration and evaluation of the lifting program could be achieved. The main research work and results of this paper were as follows:The study on lifting simulation theory was carried out, and the problems that the current lifting simulation technology faced were summed up. The problems included single function of the simulation system, taking too long to establish a model and not having the versatility as well, the animated demonstration of the simulation only on the process, not having the interactive and can’t do dynamic simulation of the data driven. To solve these problems, the lifting simulation technology was combined with BIM technology. BIM model creation process was accompanied by creating a large number of engineering information, which provided a convenient to the realization of function modules of the lifting simulation system. A theoretical basis of the establishment of virtual lifting simulation system was provided, through analyzing the choices of the current popular BIM software. The safe lifting technology by truck cranes was studied, including safety analysis for the standing location of truck cranes and the pressure caused by large-scale truck cranes. The pressure of the outrigger was calculated by moment distribution method and the comprehensive calculating methods for four-point support and three-point support were proposed, providing the theoretical foundation for the mechanical module of the lifting simulation system. In order to solve the problem of time-costing model establishment and inconvenience of model reuse in the lifting simulation application, the parameterized modeling method was studied. The parameterized establishment for the truck crane model was implemented in the BIM software Auto Revit and the key parameters were convenient to update. Meanwhile the component library and environment recourse library were proposed for the lifting simulation system, so the model were not just shapes formed by points, lines and surfaces, but solids with rich parametric information. The lifting simulation system based on Navisworks was established and by the VBA language in Microsoft Excel, the mechanical calculation program for the outriggers of truck cranes were worked out as the mechanical module of the simulation system. The spatial geometric simulation module was created by Clash Detective, Animator, and Scripter, so the movement process analysis of the crane with zero load and the operation path collision detection of the crane with loads could be implemented.Using the portal crane lifting assembly in TA01 bid section of the first-stage Ning Tian City track traffic project as the engineering background, the formerly proposed lifting simulation system was used for engineering application. The main components of the portal crane such as the ground beam slippage system, outriggers, main girder and trolleys were simulated. For the possible collision problems of the main girder lifting process, detections were conducted and corrections were made, so the safe working path were obtained. Full-range mechanical calculations of the outriggers in the lifting process for the heaviest trolley were conducted to ensure the safety of the lifting program. Finally, the works in this paper were summarized and the main conclusions and problems for further research were pointed out.
