As one of the three metal structures of truck crane, frame bears complicated loading during driving and operating process. So, it is of great significance to design a frame of sufficient strength and stiffness in terms of ensuring the normal work of the crane. There are still two major bottlenecks in current R&D model of domestic truck crane frame. That is the separation of design and analysis process and the repeated modeling for different frame types, which greatly restrict the improvement of production efficiency and product quality. In this paper, universal model is proposed for six heterogeneous frames of certain series of 25t ~ 220t truck cranes and PCL, the secondary development language of MSC.Patran, is used to develop the universal parametric modeling and analysis system of truck crane frame. In addition, it is user-friendly because Delphi 7 is adopted to develop the systematic interface.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) Finite element analysis method for the frame are systematically studied.The refined finite element model of 75t frame is founded; the choosing of frame analysis mode and element type along with the other key modeling technique are explored. To lay the foundation for the standardized design of crane frame, the normalized research for the frame structure and work condition of truck frame are carried out.(2) The universal model for a certain series of crane frame is proposed. Based on the modular and parametric design ideas,universal frame model for finite element analysis are proposed for six frame structures of certain series of 25t ~ 220t truck cranes and the parameters are extracted .(3) The universal parametric modeling and analysis system of crane frame is developed. Refering to MSC.Patran/Nastran as the secondary development platform, PCL is adopted to compile core parametric program of universal model; Delphi 7 is used to develop user-interface and to complete the integration of this system.(4) Several application examples are provided to verify the accuracy and versatility of the system.Compared with the analysis result of corresponding frame's refined finite element model, the stress and strain error of main structure all meet the requirement for precision of engineering analysis. In addition, the parametric modeling and contrast analysis of three typical combined frames is given.While lowering the using threshold of finite element software, this system shortens the time spent in finite element analysis of frame into one day rather than one month that was taken previously, which greatly enhances the work efficiency. Therefore, it is of high practical value for the design and analysis of serialized frame.
