Study Of The Conservation And Renewing Of The Environment Around The Modern And Contemporary Historical Buildings Based On The Spatial Structure Of The Old City Of Xi’an

Historic buildings are carrying the history of civilization, making the intangible into tangible. Due to lacking of awareness of protecting historic buildings and the next environment, many cities didn’t have a systemic development and protection policies, a large number of valuable historical buildings and Civilized neighborhoods are damaged and destroyed at early stages. In particular, modern architectures and the surrounding environments do not get attention compared with the ancient architectural sites.As the typical historical and cultural city of China,Xi’an has rich cultural heritage and the vast amount of historical relics. For Xi’an, modern architectures do not get attention compared with ancient buildings. Even if a part of them have been preserved,the function of surroundings are seriously distorted and destructed because of urban development. Until 2005, the ICOMOS passed the "Xi’an Declaration" in China, laid the theoretical foundation for the protection and design of historic buildings and the surrounding environment. In Old Town, the type and number of historic buildings are numerous, these transformation to environment are non-minority, but there is no a specific remedial and corrective measures on the Zhubashi area.Zhubashi lacks of region vitality and the contact with the surrounding historic buildings. Compare with the reformed Sanxue street, Beiyuanmen, Telford Lane,College Gate and Moat, the area lacks of awareness of overall planning. In terms of the urban spatial planning and cultural context structure, it is the breakpoint phenomenon.This thesis provides a theoretical basis on environmental protection and regeneration by analyzing domestic and international programmatic documents, at the same time, giveobjective analysis and exploration on outstanding case. Based on the variable process of spatial structure of Old City, to explore the relationship between the spatial variable factors and environmental heritage of modern and contemporary architectures. Put the modern and contemporary architectures of Old City as the research object, propose a method of environmental protection and updating of Zhubashi region by analogy and contrast to build a environmental protection and planning design system of modern and contemporary architectures in Xi’an. With the positive development of cultural elements,relieving the contradiction of urban development elements and cultural heritage,exploring a environmental protecting and planning design pattern of modern and contemporary architecture that blameless and more in line with the urban development of Xi’an.
