Traditional village itself is regarded as intangible cultural heritage because of high historical and cultural value. However,when facing the impact of numbers of reasons, like urbanization, these villages are perishing,thus we should protect and develop these threatened villages. The scope of this study is focusing on traditional villages in Beijing suburbs Region. Based on the existing ideas and cases, I summarize the possible and potential measures to protect the traditional villages by architectural renewing. By summing up the conservation content and Architectural features of Beijing traditional villages nowadays, I intend to form Beijing traditional village’s Architectural renovation mode, tactics,ways and technology in this area. Based on the status of research and analysis,I choose Beijing Fangshan District, Nanjiao village as a case study. The Key is to select courtyard for renewal design, in order to show how to protect and recycle the buildings in the framework of planning.This paper is divided into six chapters. First chapter starts with introduction,background and the origin of the subject, introducing the status quo and problems in traditional villages. The second chapter discuss the different factors,such as urbanization, heritage, folklore tourism, rural self-government, traditional village conservation planning and others,in order to find the solution ---architecture. Whereby the third chapter summarizes the Beijing traditional villages planning content,offering a framework of protection for later re-use ways or approaches. The fourth chapter focuses on how to renew and protect buildings under three levels’ country space.explore how to keep balance between old and new buildings in Beijing Traditional Villages,within specific practices and implementation guidelines. Chapter fifth takes the Nanjiao village as a case study to explain the historical origins of the village, profiles, constitute physical space, culture, architecture constituent elements, architectural space morphology.
