Electrified railway is developing rapidly, in order to guarantee the normal operation of railway system, we should detect the related equipment of electrified railway periodically. The proportion of catenary fault in the electrical railway equipment fault is very large, and the operating conditions of the catenary directly affect the flow level of the pantograph catenary, it plays an important role in the safety and stability of the vehicle operation. To ensure the reliability of the pantograph and catenary, it need a series of catenary detection work, and find the hidden trouble in time, to ensure that the catenary is in good working condition.Firstly, based on the comparison of the characteristics of the catenary geometrical parameters, the method of laser scanning is proposed. The measuring principle of laser scanner(including distance measurement and angle measurement) is analyzed, and established the measurement model of the geometrical parameters of the catenary. Secondly, according to the requirements of the measurement system, the overall structure of the system is analyzed and designed. The system uses laser scanner as the data acquisition unit, and uses embedded microprocessor which has rich interface and powerful data processing as the core data processing unit, the photoelectric encoder installed on the axle is used to collect the position information of the system, and the data of the scanner and the positioning data are processed synchronously based on the LabVIEW development platform. Then, use this system to collect the data and analyze the background of the catenary, extract the scanned contour curve, then filter the data through two different filtering algorithms. Achieved the recognition and extraction of the target, get the preliminary estimation, and then through the data of the effective control to get the final measurement results. Finally, the feasibility of the laser scanning method for the detection of the stagger value and the height of the wire is verified, and the error analysis of the test results is carried out.The experimental results show that the method is reasonable and feasible, and can achieve the expected detection accuracy. It provides a certain detection method and reference method for the detection of catenary.
