The paper mainly studies two major aspects:the shape of automobile headlight contour,and construction of transition curves.To more effectively design the shape of automobile headlamp,a car headlight contour design method based on cubic quasi-Bézier curves with shape parameters is presented in this paper.Firstly,we introduce the background of automobile vehicle's light contour and introduce several expansions of Bézier curves.Base of this new Bézier curves,the smooth connection conditions of piecewise cubic quasi-Bézier curve is studied,and give condition of G~1,C~1and G~2 connect condition.Then we give this qusai-Bézier curve's application in the construction of automotive headlight outlines.Besides,the adjustment methods of the contour curves shape are proposed including the shape of contour edges and corners.Finally,lights headlight contour model is obtained according to the orthographic projection curve.The contour curves can be flexibly adjusted by changing the value of shape parameters and the position of control points.Compared with the conventional methods,the method has a lower degree and the calculation is easier.Numerical example shows that the method proposed in this paper is simple,effective and ease to interaction design of shape.In the second part,we came up with a new potential function,and explain the initial point of construction of this new function.Then we introduce several commonly used potential functions,and we give application of this new potential function in the design of cam.This new potential function not only satisfies construction effect,but also further improves the potential function so that the transition curve is closer to the two transitioned curves at the midpoint.It can make better transition effect and give the practical application of the method in cam profile design.In the last part,we make a conclusion of the paper,and looked to the feasibility of further work.
