| Rural area is inhabited by kinship. With the development of economy and society, rural area’s spatial form has undergoing or is undergoing tremendous changes. As the forefront of China’s reform and opening, the region of Pearl River Delta experienced a rapid process of urbanization. Although the urban form has brought about a huge irruption and replacement to the rural background, rural area is still an integral part of regional space. Currently while promoting rural construction, deep understanding must be established on the space factors of rural areas. This thesis focuses on the rural areas of Shunde, trying to acknowledge its spatial factors and features, and explore the developing strategies of villages in Shunde which represent rural areas in the region of Pearl River Delta, to ensure healthy, harmonious and sustainable developing of rural areas.This thesis analysis and summarizes the space factors in rural areas of Shunde systematically, to analyze current features, influential factors and driving mechanism of rural areas’ material and immaterial space. It also constructs a integral cognitive system network of rural areas’ material and immaterial space, and further explores the internal logic and linkage relationships between material and immaterial space factors, trying to provide references to rural development.The thesis consists of six parts. The first part is an introduction and theoretical review, which introduces the research background, defines the research goal and describes methods and technical route. It also reviews relevant theories of rural geography at home and abroad. The second part is a case study of good practice on rural construction at home and abroad, aiming to provide a reference for Shunde rural space factors and build a theoretical framework. Rural space is divided into material and immaterial parts. On the foundation of reviewing Shunde rural development, the third part analyzes and summarizes current external impact and implanted elements, trying to propose solution from the perspective of space. According to the order of affect, implanted elements influenced the immaterial space first, then the material space changes as a result. The fourth and fifth parts of the thesis introduce immaterial and material space separately, both of which are the results caused by implanted elements. The forth part is about cognition on rural immaterial factors which conclude rural life, rural production and rural culture. The fifth part is about cognition on factors of rural material space. It discusses rural material space from the structure of point, line and surface, analyzing how to protect traditional rural features, develop rural areas according to local conditions and achieve a harmonious unity of material and immaterial rural space. The sixth part is the summary on network system of rural space factors in the region of Pearl River Delta. It analyzes the linkage between material and immaterial space factors, and further puts forward to the outlook from city-refeeding to rural self-reliance. |
