Parametric design method is now widely used by industry as a new kind of design method. Its characteristics such as the efficiency, practicability witch make it become the development direction of design work and has great application value in the series of product design, similar design and special CAD system development. Compared with the traditional design method, parametric design method can reduce repeated labor, improving the design efficiency, meeting the demand of modern product design. Parametric design method also can develop different parametric design system based on different CAD software, the design method is also different. Pulley of belt conveyor is widely used as a mechanical transmission device, its structural similarity and design of the repetitive are suitable for parametric design.First of all, on the basis of introducing the research of CAD technology at home and abroad, the theories and research status of parameterized technology, the secondary development status of Creo2.0 to research the secondary development method of Creo2.0 through Pro/Toolkit. These are the key technologies of parametric design system to build products including Visual Studio 2010 development environment setup, Pro/Toolkit application interface, Pro/Toolkit menu, UI dialog box, MFC dialog box technology, the writing of the resource file and run the application registered.Secondly, parametric design is realized by applying parametric modeling method and combining parameters driver, establishing a parametric design system of pulley, realizing design of the pulley shell, hub, web, shaft, bearing, generating main part model and assemble model.Finally, studying finite element optimization of pulley according to the actual working situation to improving the pulley structure.The parametric design method of Creo2.0 is generality and can be applied to other product design process to develope parametric design system in accordance with requirements. The application of parametric design method of pulley and finite element method is meaningful to improve the design efficiency and quality of pulley.
