Research On The Old-appropriate Public Environment Underlying The Different Space Type Of Suzhou

After entering the 21 st century, our country is facing two severe challenges including rapidly aging population and fast develping of the urbanization. The deepening of aging trend also puts forward new requirements for the development and construction of urbanization. The elderly deserve the care from the society as they once greatly contributed to the society. The whole society should provide a comfortable, safe and healthy public environment for them.Suzhou is a city which is fast developing of the urbanization and deepening aging, it should timely construct the old-appropriate public environment. At the same time, it has formed three different characteristic types of space after 2500 years’ spatial evolution. Therefore, the study of old-appropriate public environment in Suzhou also needs to consider the difference.Based on the above background, this paper puts forward the concept of the old-appropriate public environment. And the article focuses on the typical unit underlying the different space type of Suzhou, which has important practical and theoretical significance.First of all, this paper puts forward the main research problems based on the analysis of the research background and significance, related theory and guiding significance, summaries of relevant researches both at home and abroad. and then. Secondly it builds the architecture of old—appropriate public environment, and contains its connotation and evaluation index system. Thirdly, based on the analysis of the Suzhou space evolution, this paper puts forward three different spatial types, including the old district, the new district and the edge district, which had formed in Suzhou. And it selects several typical units from the three types for the following research which includes communities of historical district, communities of old residential area, communities of Hi-Tech District, communities of Industry Park, communities of rural-urban continuum, communities of urban villages. Nextly, this paper evaluates and analyzes the typical communities, baseding on the previous analyses and methods. According to the results of evaluation, this paper also attempts to put forward some corresponding concepts, principles and strategies of old-appropriate public environment planning under different spatial types which can provide some ideas for the practice in the future.Finally, the author Summarizes the findings of the full text, points out the shortcomings, and puts forward the prospects of the continuing study in the future.
