This essay mainly depends on the theory of environment-behavior studies, it is going to research the public spaces in modern commercial complex from the classification perspectives of architecture and urban. The architecture is narrow public space view which is based on the architectural and human scale; the urban is broad public space view which has the large-scale and integrated system.Combined with questionnaire survey and field observation, it is willing to classify the public spaces of the commercial complex and explore the people’s various behavior, psychological needs in the public spaces.Through the analysis of questionnaire survey, with the addition of field research and field observation of the various public spaces in Dada Plaza which located in the city of Xichang, combined with people’s behavior scale analysis and activities area research, we try to find out the key of public spaces design in commercial complex, especially which details should be noticed from the aspects of architecture and urban.In accordance with the investigation and research results in previous section, also on the background of steering the consumer behavior and inducing spontaneous behavior, the research puts forward the appropriate design strategy of public spaces in the commercial complex, both from the aspects of architecture and urban. So it is based on the perspective analysis of the environmental behavior in differently spatial levels, we try to establish a method for the architects and planners of how to systematically organize the public spaces.We focus on the introductory design of square, green space, road and building accessaryspace this four types in public spaces, on the premise of guiding the consumers demand, promoting people to get a variety of spontaneous behavior patterns in the public spaces of commercial complex, achieving and satisfying people’s behavior needs in the part of architecture, also making the public spaces fit its own social function in the part of urban.
