With the rapid of development of economy, the demand of electricity is growing in our country. Distribution Network is most closely to our life. Distribution Automation System plays a reliable and efficient role in the Distribution Network. Distribution Communication Network collects and transmits data as a delivery platform to Distribution Automation System. Distribution Communication Network uploads the real-time data from the terminal, downloads the order from the control center, with two-way, real-time, high-speed characteristics. Nowadays, the plan and design of Distribution Communication Network have become an important research direction.In this paper taking shangrao as background combined with the actual data, the Distribution Communication Network architecture and function features and analyzed real-time data transmission’s principle were studied. According to the characteristics of Distribution Automation System, an idea of the design was proposed by dividing Distribution Communication Network into backbone layer and access layer. The backbone layer used SDH/MSTP optical fiber transmission networks and The access layer used EPON technology. Combining the basic problems of Shangrao district, calculates business traffic which meets the need of Distribution Communication Network. It demonstrated the feasibility of using EPON fiber-based private network and supplying wireless of public network hybrid network solutions. Finally, the plan and the design of Distribution Communication Network was proposed.
