Study On The Adaptability Of Jurong City’s Spatial Structure

Currently, although the program of cities’ master planning is improving underthe rapid development of urbanization, during the operation complaint prevailed forthe phenomenon of plan delay, which leads to an arduous work of revising themaster planning over and over again. The cities’ spatial structure is an importantcomponent of master planning. There are a lot of unforeseen external factors duringthe cities’ development, and a reasonable urban spatial structure can adapt to allkinds of changing during the cities’ development. Consequently, research onadaptability of spatial structure is significant during the rapid developing progress.Jurong, belonging to Zhenjiang in administration, is located in mid-South ofJiangsu province and Nanjing metropolitan circle core envelops. The population ofexisting urban is184thousand. In the process of modernization transformation andurban development, the city has been greatly influenced by various external dynamicfactors, and the construction of the spatial structure plays a decisive role in Jurong’surban planning. Thus, the author selects it as a case to deeply analyze in attempt tolearn something in the real sense.Firstly, this thesis analyzes the domestic and foreign relevant theoreticalresearch and selects the typical cases of city’s spatial structure to further analyze andlearn the successful experience. Secondly, effects of the urban spatial structureevolution fixed factors, relative stability factors and variable factors were analyzed.Thirdly, on the mentioned basis, to construct the variable factors of the urban spatialstructure, and make it adapt to the development of the future for the purpose of thecity, and putting forward the construction of urban spatial structure of smallorganization principle and the organization method. Fourthly, in case of Jurong, thespatial structure of the evolution process and causes of evolution areanalyzed.Finally, make an adaptability evaluation through describing the process ofthe construction of the spatial structure. The study of the project which takes an example of Jurong will construct anurban spatial structure which could adapt to the development of the city. At the sametime, this thesis preliminarily puts forward the organization method of small cities’spatial structure in the hope of solving the existing problems of the current cities’spatial structure, properly guiding the future construction and development of thecity, and adjusting to numerous changes in the city’s future development, whichcontained openness, expansibility, flexibility and elasticity. Above all, the urbanspace and the image of the city can be improved.
