In recent years, with the continuous expansion of the city, the development trend of living space marginalized more and more obvious. Urban Fringe is a relatively special city area, it has the typical characteristics which will have an important impact on the development of living space. With the development of economy and society, the income gap between the level of different segments of the population continues to widen,increasing the differentiation of living space resources, the housing problem of the lack of effective protection of vulnerable groups, leading to urban residential differentiation and isolation, which a phenomenon in residential housing types and characteristics of the population have a diversity of urban fringe is even worse. Based on the study of the living space in urban fringe basis of existing theory and practice, Social structure in the cell- the "community" as the research object, a mixed settlement patterns as the purpose, through the "mixed community" to guide the urban fringe residential space construction, thereby improving the living space differentiation and segregation, and promote the harmonious development of the urban fringe and the whole society.Thesis from the perspective of urban planning and sociology, the first of the basic concepts and theories of urban fringe residential space are described, raised the question of how to optimize; Then it analyzes the characteristics of urban fringe living space,diverse class and type of residence,development of new trends and presence status issue,starting from the urban fringe residential differentiation phenomenon,living space development and differentiation of motivation are analyzed.
