At present, the number of vessels is increasing, which leads to the maritime traffic becoming busier. Then it causes the maritime traffic accidents occur frequently. So people pay more attention on the safety of ship navigation. Normally, we acquires and processes the real-time traffic information through the use of radar and AIS to achieve the ship navigation safety. The fusion processing of radar information and AIS information can achieve the complementary advantages, which can provide the guarantee for ship navigation safety.This topic combines the project of "The branch project of Zhicheng bridge station and Badong station of Yichang vessel traffic management system (contract label: 2010Z942)" to carry on the research and get the funding of the project.This topic study on the fusion processing technology of radar information and AIS information. It is of great significance in ship navigation. The main research work includes the following aspects.First of all, this paper make theoretical analysis on radar information and AIS information. Besides, radar data format, radar information update rate, the classification of AIS information, AIS information update rate and data formats and so on are described, which provides the necessary theoretical basis for the next step of information fusion processing.Secondly, this paper study on the information fusion target and the fusion algorithm of the radar information and AIS information. Three kinds of the structure model of radar information and AIS information fusion are analyzed. On this basis, it analyzes the advantages and disadvantages as well as the use occasion of the radar and AIS. What’s more, it narrates the distributed information fusion structure model of radar and AIS. At the same time, the principle of implementation and the way used in the basic steps of radar and AIS information fusion such as coordinate transformation, time registration and data association are analyzed. Finally, the error analysis of fusion is verified by simulation.Thirdly, the paper study on the C# realization steps of the fusion of radar information and AIS information in detail. First of all, the paper study on the radar information and AIS information decoding and storage. After, data preprocessing including coordinate transformation and time calibration is analyzed. Then the data correlation is studied, including the association of time and distance, the judge of primary associated quality factor. Finally, adopting the method of statistical weighting to merge and process the associated information.Finally, the fusion algorithm is displayed based on the C# programming language of the Visual Studio 2010 development software, which is loaded into the ECDIS (Electronic chart display and information system).The chart shows the specific ship information and the fusion results, which is able to provide navigation services for ship navigation safety.
