With the development of economic globalization, marine economy is gradually prosperous and shipping industry is thriving at the same time. Navigation safety is the most important when the ship is sailing on the sea. Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) plays an increasingly important role in ship navigation. With the rapid development of computer and electronic technology, ECDIS overlays and integrates other aided navigation information constantly based on the basic function. Accordingly, the function system of it becomes more perfect with high-performance and good accuracy.As an important reference for navigation safety information, marine hydrometeoro logical data play an important role and its expression on the electronic chart has a direct impact on drivers’understanding of the meteorological and oceanographic environment as well as the accuracy of the pre judgment and the accuracy the pre judgment. By means of scientific computing visualization, we convert the large-scale data into graphics and images through scientific and engineering computing and present them in an intuitive form, and then add the generated graphics and images to the electronic chart. In this way, meteorological and oceanographic data will serve to the ship navigation more intuitively and conveniently.Based on the SDK of Electronic Chart Display and Information System developed by the company 7Cs, using Qt GUI application development framework and MVC architecture, we develop and integrate the basic function module of electronic chart from the perspective of software engineering. On the basis of it, we pre-resolve the marine meteorological and oceanographic data, generate graphics and images by means of scientific computing visualization, and then add them to the Electronic Chart Display and Information System. The main work and achievements are as follows:1) The interactive design and implementation of electronic chart display and information systemBased on MVC architecture and the modularization design idea of object-oriented software system, design the interactive method between the model and view in the electronic chart display and information system. Classify all functions of electronic chart display and information system, design middle controller class and then design the different subclasses controller. Adopting singleton, the system completes the interaction between the model and view by switching different operating states. Many functions have been achieved and the problems of interaction overlapping and frequent input/output have been solved effectively.2) The visualization technology research and realization of adding marine hydrometeorological data to Electronic Chart Display and Information SystemThe basic function of electronic chart is developed with the help of a third party SDK about Electronic Chart Display and Information System, and the visualization of graphics and images is based on OpenGL rendering pipeline. In order to solve the incompatibility of underlying rendering between electronic chart data visualization, with the help of reuse idea in software engineering, we finally solved the visualization problem of superposition fusion from the application layer by a copy of the bitmap image by fusion between the device context as well as the integration of the rendering effects.3) Integration of visual effects between the electronic chart and contour, color profile, vector arrows, and satellite imageryAccording to the different elements and species of the marine hydrometeorological data, for scalar data uses the algorithm of contour or color profile, and Vector data uses vector arrows methods, to render drawing respectively, and overlay integrated into Electronic Chart Display and Information System. In addition on satellite imagery to visualize superimposed together to achieve convergence to enrich electronic chart display and information system functions and data representations.The Electronic Chart Display and Information System functions continuously improve and perfect, through research and development from software interaction design to the basic functions, and to the marine hydrometeorological data integration of visualization in scientific computing superimposed graphic images. Making the ship’s personnel for the utilization of the Marine hydrometeorological data more easy, intuitive and accurate. At the same time, overlapping fusion technology research and implementation, provides reference for other more sophisticated electronic chart stacking fusion visual effect.
