Carrier frame is one of the main bearing structures of the truck crane, its reasonable design will directly affect the machine’s performance.The frame is a complex high-order statically indeterminate structure, the design must take into account the static strength, stiffness, buckling and other conditions. Because of the complexity of structure and load conditions, using only traditional method is cannot obtain comprehensive and accurate results of force and deformation, FEM (Finite element method) is effective method to solve such problems.Because of the FEM’ s adaptability for the complex geometry, applicability for various physical problems, reliability and other characteristics based on rigorous theoretical foundation, it has become an important branch of modern design methods. For above reasons, design of frame structure is studied in this article based on BQ-TADANO (BEIJING) CRANE CO.Ltd’s product GT-750E crane. The main work is as follows:1) Load combinations are selected based on CRANE DESIGN SPECIFICATION, and representative load conditions are choose based on actual conditions.2) The force on slewing bearing bolts is calculated.3) The apply process of FEM is studied. First, the 3D model of frame is built by using of CATIA software, and meshed by means of finite element pre-processing software HyperMesh. After applying load, the FEM model is calculated by finite element solver RADIOSS, at last the result is post-processed by HyperView. Based on the results, the frame structure is improved.4) Stress experiment study is performed. By stress test trials, the stress is obtained at typical load conditions in actual work.5) FEA results and experiment data are compared and analyzed. The results show that The FEA results reflect the true state of frame structure.The structure research methods in this article will provide meaningful reference for other structures of truck crane.
