Research On The Protective Remodeling Of Slate Street In Historic District Of Suixi Couty

With the rapid development of market economy, the speed of updating and buildingthe city is also increasing fast. Many cities are losing history. Traditional blocks havefaded away forever which carry much history during large dismantling and rebuilding.These cities are the traditional architectural style blocks which were formed slowly forseveral centuries or even millennia. They witnessed the vicissitudes of history. Theyhave an important role in the continuation of the urban context and retain local culture.And the effect on the human environment is also enormous. These traditional urbanspace forms are on the verge of disappearing, which will split the city’s historic context.They will be developed into modern buildings and blocks whose features are similarwith other cities in China, or they will naturally decline even disappear because of theabsence of maintenance and management.Suixi Slate Street is the core of the Old City of Suixi, it retains the integrity ofhistoric buildings and traditional texture of each era streets. It also carries the historyand memory of the Old City of SuiXi. So it is a precious city resource. In this paper,Suixi Slate Street which is in Huaibei, Anhui is the research object. I have researchedthe material and non-material form of the old Slate Street, and also analyzed spacelayout and shape of the building, humanistic culture and folk culture. Through empiricalanalysis, around the problems of Suixi Slate Street development status, combining theexperiences and lessons of the transformation of the Old Town Street area at home andabroad, I study on protection and re-using of the old streets. For the reality of thesituation, I proposed planning protection rehabilitation programs, divided the reasonablescopes of protection, determined the protected object, and formulated different updatedpolicies and development models. It will activate its own repairing and updating andprotect the traditional style of the blocks. So that the Slate Street can form a virtuouscircle of protection and development. Then we can promote rejuvenation, vitality andprosperity of the Slate Street Area.
