With the development of China’s economy, the industrial structure is undergoingconstant adjustment. Industrial production mode with industrial upgrading is aconstantly updated. For the industrial city, old industrial buildings have lost theoriginal function of the process is a puzzle to be placed in the process of city, also animportant link in the sustainable development of city. The old industrial architecture isthoroughly removed or the implementation of protection and utilization, this is acontroversial topic. The social different fields according to different evaluationstandards put forward various views. But it is certain that these views are in-depthresearch results based on the scientific theory, the rational and rigorous way, and theideas of sustainable development.Tianjin has a long history of Industrial Development, is one of the birthplace ofChina’s modern industry. With the coming of21st century, Tianjin industry is facing agreat challenge. Although the factory moved out of downtown to improve theecological environment of the city, because of the need of development of the city,and some of the social value of the industrial building will be torn down. It becomemust face the future city development issues that how to deal with the rare andvaluable old industrial buildings in Tianjin.Based on this background, this paper attempts to analyze the Tianjin industrialcharacteristics and the status quo, and study on the reuse of old industrial buildings inTianjin. Based on the category and meaning on study, paper reviews the domestic andinternational development of the renovation of old industrial buildings. Throughcombining the successful experience home and abroad, paper research and analysisthe development process and the present situation of Tianjin industrial building, andtry to summarize the macro strategy, the reconstruction mode and the principle anddesign method for the transformation of old industrial buildings in Tianjin.
