Interior Transformation Of Old Industrial Buildings In Beijing

Since1990, China’s cities have stepped into a period focused on updating and redevelopment.In Beijing which is the most representative metropolis, during her urban construction history, a lot of old industrial buildings are waiting for being abandoned, transformed or pulled down. Getting to know how better to transform and reuse these old industrial building will have important economic, environmental and social significance.This paper begins with current status of studying about reuse of the old buildings at home and aboard, taking Beijing’s old industrial buildings as research subject, from the perspective of interior design, makes a summary of research achievements and the principle about interior redesign of old industrial buildings, generalizes the mode of this transformation. At last, a designing case adopting the methods provided above is shown in this paper. Conclusions:1. The transformation of the interior space of old industrial buildings could be developed from the aspects of spatial shape, material, colors and light environment.2. There should be different design focuses based on different spatial functions when reshape the interior space of old industrial buildings.By this paper, the writer hopes to provide a theoretical basis and practical guidance for the interior transformation of old industrial buildings in the future, make a practical and academic influents on the urban renewal process of Beijing.
