With in-depth reform of the housing system and residential real estatedevelopment in the increasingly mature, the residents of residential outdoor spaceenvironmental requirements are becoming increasingly becomes higher, from a singlegreen space into a rich and diverse community outdoor space environment.Residential community as residents of the daily activities, outdoor space designreasonable has been paid more and more attention, how to meet the needs of users, tostimulate the vitality of the community outdoor space became designers thinkingproblem.In the community outdoor residential space design, gender difference is peoplelong neglected problems. Designers often consider only the difference between thepsychological and behavioral needs live in different age levels of the user, the user’sown factors of gender difference is rarely taken into account in the design of. Mostdesigners with a non-gender, standard "person" for the user to consider the spacedesign, thus ignoring the existence of gender differences in space and spacerequirements of different gender. Such designs tend to bring a lot of space for the useof space, resulting in dehumanizing design. In addition, with the rising status ofwomen, the impact on the construction of the urban environment is increasing,"female economy" gradually also become an important support for the Chineseconsumer market, more and more women in their own name to buy a house, femalegroups to form a emerging stocks the main buyers. Residential district is an importantpart of city planning in the new development, it will make the city planning anddesign have a significant impact. Therefore, the introduction of the genderperspective into the community outdoor residential space design, face up to women’sneeds and gender differences is necessary.This paper selected four community outdoor space in Xiamen as the researchobject, through the research methods, questionnaire, interview records, data statisticsin the outdoor space activities of different gender users, activity content in different types of outdoor space (including the residential square space, public green space,sports space,bottom overhead space of the four typical outdoor space), and outdoorspace security and facilities requirements. Investigation of different gender users inthe space of residential outdoor activities, community mode selection, behaviordistribution and spatial demand differences. Due to the influences of these differencesin addition to the user’s own factors, physiological and psychological differences insocial cultural factors, including space types, spatial distribution, spatial perceptionand other outdoor space factor. Through the analysis summarized the environment,strong safety outdoor space comfortable in the community and is convenient forwomen to carry out the "family" outdoor facilities is an important factor to attractfemale outdoor space use. Finally, the existing research results and existing problemsin the community, put forward the corresponding design recommendations forimprovement.The ultimate goal of this article is not to criticize the design space design onlymale gender discrimination, nor to impose a pure feminine space environment inspace, but to provide a new perspective for community outdoor residential spacehumanization design study, designed to fill the lack of previous studies to furtherenhance and improve the multi-level needs of residents outdoors, creating acomfortable living environment and diverse.
