Research On The Design Of Public Swimming Pools From The Perspective Of Gender Differences

In recent years,with the rapid development of mass sports in China,the question upon the construction of public stadium has already been the focus of the people in this profession.Differs from competitive swimming pools which is meeting the requirements of the game,public swimming pools pay more attention to the users’ own experience,and meet the needs of a diverse population.In addition,some competitive swimming pools are facing the conflict between competitive standardization design and daily nature.Gender differences are an effective perspective for the study of public space,and widely been used in the design of urban exterior space,however which is seldom been used in sports architecture design.This paper studies the design of public swimming pools from the perspective of gender differences.From the aspects of the history and objects,this paper puts forward corresponding design solutions and carries out project practice.This paper is divided into two parts.The first part makes clear the history about the concern of gender differences from the field of architecture.The second part shows specific research and design,and let the theory of gender differences been applied to the practice.These two parts together constitute the clues and ideas of this paper.The first theoretical part is composed of two chapters:pedigree research and application perspective.In the former chapter,this paper studies the relations between the development of architecture and the feminist movement.And the history of feminist architecture can be divided into education and practice,residential buildings and public buildings,under the premise of time division.Based on the above,the later chapter extracts the ideological basis of pedigree research,and summarizes the practical characteristics and application path of feminist architecture.The second part includes two chapters:the investigation of gender differences elements in the public swimming pools,and the design of the public swimming pools.In the former chapter,we take the post-occupancy evaluation on 3 public swimming pools in Nanjing by using the environment-behavior studies;through regression analysis and comparative study of ergonomics,this paper analyzes the influence of gender differences on the use of facilities.The later chapter begins to design Yangzhou swimming fitness center,from the aspects of planning and layout,spatial layout,functional plane,facilities details.At the same time,this paper uses the technology of feature induction and weight assignment,in order to deduce the model application that meets the needs of both sexes.In summary,through the research and design of the public swimming pools,we hope to expand the research perspective of gender differences in the design field,strengthen the humane care of the swimming pools design,and will be helpful to the development of feminist architecture in China.
