The relationship between culture and product design are inseparable. On one hand, the cultureincludes almost all of the objects in the product design. On the other hand, as a means of expressionof the culture, Product design also promotes the development of culture constantly. Culturedifferences due to different national or ethnic, in the situation of increasing globalization, the culturaldifferences also bound into the product design."Cross-cultural" factors are not only as a rathercontroversial the social phenomenon sociology research, but will also serve as an entry point of themodern design research.First, the paper combs the context of cross-cultural product design origins, summarizing thebasic concepts of cross-cultural product design: cross-cultural product design in the context ofeconomic and cultural globalization, conflict or discrepancy multi-kinds of cultural study, as a guideto user research and ergonomic method analysis viable product design and design embodies the"cultural identity" in the final product. Papers on the basic characteristics of cross-cultural productdesign attributes and value of the method-based and cross-cultural product overview.Secondly, through the study of the relationship between culture, cultural differences, and productdesign, summed up a cross-cultural product design category and connotation, and cross-culturalproduct design elements through the "three cultural level" classification. Cross-cultural product designcan be divided into the epitaxial oriented single culture and mixed culture-oriented design twocategories, in fact based on the culture as the center of the design, ergonomics and user-centereddesign.Finally, the article researched the methods of cross-cultural product design and summed up fourprinciples as well as the design process. Combined with the research project, the paper did thepractice of cross-cultural product design for the application of the concept of family services in smartTV. The use of cross-cultural product design process of the project, to extract the innovative design,and raised a family of self-cultivation Church of the design concept, and its prototype design tocomplete the final concept module, once again demonstrated the need for cross-cultural productdesign feasibility.
