Gestalt Psychology Used In Landscape Design

As an important school of experimental psychology Gestalt psychology has made outstanding achievements in the field of visual perception. The main theories of many scholars introduced into the field of literature, architecture, graphic arts, design, research, and promote the development of their discipline. Applications in landscape design, however very little.The late start of China’s modern landscape design, landscape design practices that have guided the design of the modern landscape, in a highly developed information technology society, people need to more effectively absorb what is useful information, so the landscape requirements getting higher and higher, people have been exploring new ways of landscape design. Gestalt psychology as a biological basis of aesthetic theory, and methods of traditional Chinese landscape design is often also associated with the field of literature, art has a close relationship. Therefore, the author envisages Gestalt psychology on how well introduced into the landscape design, landscape design to open up new avenues of theory. Landscape design and use has been associated with places on the environment, visual perception and potential mental activity. People see the landscape is not entirely objective, but joined the subjective treatment of the people, it will certainly be in the minds of people in the landscape of human physiological and psychological effects. Therefore, the results of psychology and aesthetics of Gestalt psychology research used in landscape design is feasible.First of all,basic conceptions of Gestalt psychology have been introduced, which can be used in landscape design are sorted out and emphasized, theories such as holism, isomorphism, law of figure and background, and theories of isual illusion have been applied to the landscape design, which offered basic theories for the use of Gestalt psychology in the landscape design Secondly,Gestalt psychology have been applied to the landscape design, in case of some successful landscape design. Gestalt psychology is considered as an effective guiding theory.Thirdly,ways and means of the application were talked about specifically, in case of the landscape design of Three Gorges migrants Park,from the angle of Planning theme,space division, the central landscape designing et.The use of Gestalt psychology enriched the ideas of the landscape design.These theories are not contradictory to the traditional landscape design practices, on the contrary, and some even have the same purpose. Hope to provide some reference for landscape design departments and employees.Due to the limitation of the author’s ability, the research is far from deep going. But the main purpose of the paper is to provide new ideas for landscape design and to attract more attention on it in future research.
