Diet contains a wealth of symbolic meaning, the study of a nation’s diet culture is often able to reach the core part of its culture. Chuci emerged from pre-Qin Chu, the Chu eating scenes depicted quite interesting, through them we can feel the pulse of the Chu culture, can touch the Chu people’s spiritual world.The paper study on the Chuci diet description, using the mutual reflection of literature and history, horizontal comparison method.It can be divided into five chapters:First, on the subject Chuci diet showed characteristics of the south, but also absorbed the characteristics of diets around, which was related to the geography of Chu country, and Chu’s people’s tolerant mind, good learning spirit.Second, the diet record in chuci indicated the chu people have achieved a great success in cooking.This achievement is closely related to Chu’s economic prosperity、abundant natural resources、social conditions and entire prosperity of chu’s culture,and it was the crystallization of Chu people’s learning spirit and wisdom.Third, the central plain’s feast culture had strong color,people in the feast activities respected etiquette and rules.But in the feast which was described in chuci,people retained more original wild and free spirit:they sat disorderly,drunk a lot of wine,appreciated crazy music and dancing,enjoyed immoderately.This difference reflects the Zhou and Chu’s cultural differences.Forth, Chuci diet’s wu culture color.there was a close connection between crifice and diet.the witch wind prevailed in chu,so in the chuci,people used many delicious food to call the dead person’s soul back.In chuci diet,there was many birds,according to Frazer’s theory of the sympathetic magic,the paper try to explain why the Chu people like to eat bird which they respect.Besides, chuci mentioned the phenomenon of eating person,this can also be explained by Frazer’s sympathetic magic theory.at last,chuci diet which was dedicated to the gods often took the food’s aroma seriously,people wanted to use the aroma to make the gods happy,and this practice indicated the chu people worshiped aroma.Fifth,there were some unworldliness diet in chuci,such as the vanilla、fine jade、and even the water、wind、and air.These "food"indicated the poet’s desire to live longer,and were very similar to the taoist school’s behavior which cut the food and live on the air.In short, through the above study, I hope not only to realize Chu’s diet condition, and find Chuci diet’s rich connotation further.
