A Study On The Relationship Between The Institute Of Geology Of The Academia Sinica And The Anti - Japanese War

The institute of geology,academia sinica is the highest academic research institution of geology in the period of the republic of china.It not only has great achievements in the field of the geological research,but also makes contributions to the applied geology.It’s the significant historic background of China’s Resistance War Against Japan, on the basis of the field investigations and explorations which the institute of geology has of mineral resources around the country, coal,iron, nonferrous and other strategic resources are exploited scientifically,supporting china’s Anti-Japanese War effectively. Before the Anti-Japanese War,the institute has done a lot investigations of minerals around the country. During the war, the institute of geology which puts investigations as central task has scored great achievements in exploration of minerals.This paper tries to introduce the settings, personnel structure and the investigation activities of the institute of geology and makes an objective evaluation by the archives of the second historical archives of china,the literature of academia sinica and some other documents.The paper includes following:Introduction part introduces the reason of the selected topic.In the main body, firstly introduces the beginning of the china’modern geology and establishment of the institute of geology,academia sinica. Secondly,the settings and personnel structure of the institute. Thirdly,introduces preparation of the institute of geology before the Anti-Japanese War, the theoretical preparations and the status of participating in the survey program of the design council of national defense, then introduces the research activities of the institute of geology according to five different areas including East China, Central China, South China, Southwest China and so on.Fourthy, makes a systematic study of the investigation activities of the institute of geology for coal,iron, nonferrous and other resources according to Western Hunan,Western Hubei, Guangxi, the region along Qiangui railways and other areas during the Anti-Japanese War.Finally, on the basis of previous text, makes a objective judgement on the contribution to anti-japanese by the institute of geology.
