Abstract/Summary:
Thanks to global industrial structural adjustment and the rapid development of theworld economy, international trade in services rises rapidly. International trade in serviceshas become the most dynamic part of international trade, and an important characteristic ofworld economy and international trade development. The competitiveness of trade inservices has been taken as a powerful measure of one country’s internationalcompetitiveness.Hong Kong is a typical service-based economy and also the world’s major center oftrade in both goods and services. After reunification in1997, Hong Kong and Mainlandhave closer relationship in economic and trade. As the capital of China, Beijing is one ofthe important economic hubs, the service trade base and the non-port-type trade center inChina. How to make good use of the characteristics and to seek cooperation and win-win isworth exploring.Based on the comprehensive understanding of theory of international service tradeand competitiveness of trade in services。This paper takes a horizontal comparative analysis on Beijing and Hong Kongfollowing four aspects, including import and export volume, the MS index, TC index.Based on the comparative analysis, this paper establishes the gray correlation model withPorter’s "diamond model" which includes four fundamental factors and two auxiliaryfactors. Then the paper makes analysis of the impact of these factors on internationalcompetitiveness in trade services.Finally, after the study above, in order to strengthen the complementation andcooperation in trade services between Hong Kong and Beijing, this paper put forward somecorresponding policy recommendations.
